Family Support Group
NAMI FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP is a free, peer-led recovery support group open to all family members, loved ones, and caregivers of someone living with a mental illness (regardless of diagnosis). It offers a casual and relaxed approach to sharing the challenges and successes of having a loved one who lives with mental illness. All groups:
Meet once a month for 90 minutes
Are offered free of charge
- Do not require registration
- Can be joined at any time
Follow a flexible structure without an educational format
Do not recommend or endorse any medications or other medical therapies
These groups provide a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope. All groups are confidential – participants can share as much or as little personal information as they wish.
Two Orange County meeting locations are available: Please feel welcome to drop by any or all meetings and share feelings, difficulties, or successes.
One meets the first Wednesday of each month from noon – 1:30 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church Office Building at 105 Market Street in Southern Village;
The other meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at The Seymour Senior Center at 2551 Homestead Rd. in Chapel Hill.
YOUNG FAMILIES SUPPORT GROUP
FREE support group for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, all those with a “heart connection” to a child or adolescent living with a potential mental health condition. You do not need to register to join this group.
Meets 1st and 3rd Saturdays at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 403 East Main St., Durham
Please park in the church lot at Main and Dillard (ignore warning signs on weekends) or in the county lot at Main and Queen (ditto).
